The Wire quotes a precedent in Gujarat High court to say once a matter is in public domain(balance sheets of Jay Shah cos submitted with RoC) media has every right to write about it. Status of private citizen cannot be claimed if your company records are already public.

The Wire tells High Court it has not called Jay Shah either corrupt or honest. That for the people to decide after reading facts contained in the The Wire story.

The Wire”s advocate tells Gujarat High court that Jay Shah”s lawyers have admitted to all the facts published by the website. So Jay Shah cannot claim The Wire”s article was malicious, Nitya Ramakrishnan argued.

The Wire argues before Gujarat High court that public interest is fully invoked as a public sector company,IREDA, holding tax payer”s money, has given a loan to Jay Shah”s company. So injunction against follow up publication not justified, The Wire argued.
